Cosplay and favorite Disney characters dominated the launching of this school year’s English Month Celebration spearheaded by the English Department of Leyte National High School. The month-long event anchored on the theme, “A Reading Nation, Lifeblood of an Enduring Nation,” formally started with an opening ceremony held last November 6.
“The Literary Characters Gallery walk was a bomb not only because of the interesting takes on favorite story book characters but practically because it was participated in by the STE Students, featuring their chosen theme,” said Grade 10 student Al Re’ Gaylon.
The 10th STE Graders were all competitive as Grade 10 Newton students got themselves into Harry Potter; Grade 10 Galileo with their emotional characters from -Disney’s Inside Out; and it was a travel to Paradise Falls with characters of UP for Grade 10 Einstein.
Miss Arabella D. Bajar, the English Department Head, graced the event with her welcome message. She was also the inducting officer in the Oath Taking Ceremony of the English Club and the Book Lovers Club Officers.
English Club adviser Ms. Geraldine Piandong later announced that there will be different activities and contests that are already lined up for this year’s celebration which include: Litcos, Essay Writing, Poetry Writing, Chalk Talk, Music Video, Speech Choir, Dramatic Reading, Extemporaneous Speaking and Oratorical Speech Contest.
